My First Twitter Chat Experience!

Image
This entire semester, my professor has incorporated Twitter into our classroom in a professional way to show us students how to use it in our future classrooms. Twitter is just another way that I am expanding my Personal Learning Network (PLN). If you're an avid reader of my blog, you may have heard this term before. Earlier this year, we made diagrams to illustrate all the different ways in which we are connected with knowledgeable resources. If you haven't already, feel free to head over to my original blog post about my PLN to get a little bit more background. Alright, let's get down to business. My first Twitter Chat was a complete success!! I learned so much more in forty-five minutes than I ever thought I could on social media. I participated in a chat with the hashtag #COLchat. This was hosted by Frank Bellomo, an elementary principal from Michigan, and Walter Kozlowski, the Director of Curriculum and Assessment for Chippewa Valley Schools in Michigan. Also partic...

My Personal and Professional Learning Network (PLN)

Image
Hey guys!! Hope you are all ready to hear about what I learned about this week in class because I'm super excited about it. I've always been an eager learner and I'm always excited about learning new things to better myself. This week in class, we discussed our Personal or Professional Learning Networks (PLN). Before this lesson I never thought about all the people and materials that influence my academic life. We were asked to sit down and really think about the main topics that influence us while learning. Because my knowledge base is still growing, so is my PLN, and it will continue to grow even when I have my own classroom. As teachers, we will never stop learning, causing our learning networks to expand larger than we could even imagine. Feel free to take a minute to think about the things that influence your learning network and create your own  here . I thoroughly enjoyed this assignment as it made me appreciate all of the resources that I have available to me and...

Mindsets for Effective Teaching and Learning in Today's Classroom

Image
This week in my Educational Media class, I was challenged with writing down my thoughts of our current education system and how students think. For us future students, we need to be aware that how we think and portray ourselves will affect how our students perform in our classroom. The three different mindsets are Fixed, Growth, and an Innovator's mindsets. Depending on which mindset a person is currently in, there is always room for growth and advancement. When it comes to technology, we need to keep an open mind so students feel free to explore the digital world. With our help and encouragement, students can become more technologically advanced in their academic and social life. To read my full thoughts, go ahead and read my essay about mindsets in the classroom. For more information on digital natives and digital immigrants, click  here .
